Portugal hosted the Euro’s in 2004

Likely Formation

4-3-3 That can change to 4-1-2-3 depending on circumstances.

No lies, this is an easy one to predict.
In goal should be Rui Patricio but could be helped by Eduardo the Benfica shot stopper when really needed.
With Ricardo Carvalho finally retired from International football, his team mate in Spain, Coentrao should fill the left back space. Bosingwa should fight for right back with Joao Pariera. The midfield affair is pretty sealed, I pray this guy doesn’t pick so many cards to warrant a suspension; Meireles for me any day. Another Joao on the right side of the three man midfield bur his name is Joao Moutinho while Miguel Veloso should take his spot on the right; once in a while they should be able to interchange.
Three man attack of Nani on the right, Cristiano on the left while the central strikerhas issues, since Nuno Gomes is missing. In this case, Helder Postiga or Almeida Hugo would fight it up for the spot. Young talent Nelson Oliveira should back up the strikers though.
I would be so surprised if Portugal makes it past the group stage. I’m so honest on this and I feel sorry for all the Portugal fans, it’s not easy this time round. Euro 2004 was the best chance so far you had, you screwed it up and now, a likely early exit is on the cards. Cristiano Ronaldo though will score, but with the defenses they are bound to face in the group stages, they will concede some pretty good goals too.
Away from the pitch, the fans are gracious. A notorious ‘RONALDO MARRY ME’ sign might not miss at the stands. I don’t expect either a ‘I LOVE YOU MEIRELES’ where do you take all those tattoos to?

The closest Portugal have come to winning this trophy was in 2004, when they lost to Greece 0-1 at home in the final. Charisteas scored the lone goal in the 57th minute.
