Roy Hodgson- Ex Liverpool WestBrom coach; has proven can work even in the toughest of circumstances when given enough time to implement his style of play.
Steven Gerrard- Doubles up as Liverpool Captain. Led his side this season to a Carling cup berth and should be good enough to lead out this English team to the European title.
Wayne Rooney, Gerrard, Young, Walcott (Aaargh! everybody is a star in this team)
England have never won the Euro cup, the best the ever came close was the semifinals in 1968 and 1996
I don’t know how you’d look at it but my ideal England line up would take the 4-2-3-1 formation with an option of the two outright wingers helping the full backs when the team is on the back foot making it a 4-4-1-1
In goal undoubtedly would be Joe Hart. I don’t see why he’ll be substituted but in case of anything then Green should cover up while Butland should be at the bench for the whole tournament.
The center defence should see the partnership of John Terry and Cahill while team mate Ashley Cole should patrol the left back. At right back, so many candidates exist but I’d go for Liverpool’s Johnson. Though at the center depending on the performance in the first half, Lescott too should claim a part there.
The two players who could hold in front of the defence then would be Barry and Lampard. Praying Barry is in good shape, he should start any day for me.
Brings me to the three men to play behind the striker; on the right wing, I’d go for the wingers as Walcott on the right, Young on the left and Gerrard just right behind the striker though even Young behind the striker is not an idea to ignore. The striker in this case; Caroll.
When Rooney returns though I would go for a 4-4-1-1- out rightly with Rooney playing behind Welbeck, they are used to playing that way for Manchester United anyway.
It should be noted with great concern though that I’m a big Gerrard fan and it would be so annoying having another player as captain apart from him. He’s my best player in this English team though. Rooney needs to look at his discipline though as not qualifying from this group if it so happens, would be partly be because of his absence. Not a bad English team but expecting them to win the Euro’s seriously is expecting too much from them. Once in a while expect to see the Ox light it up even though his performances might be limited.
Away from the game, I don’t know how the Coach would deal with technology, wives and girlfriends. Players of this generation are funny you know, would love to tweet, Facebook and even have time with their women once in a while. The English fans are so passionate about their side and expect to see loads of them at the Euro’s.
