On the 5th of August 2014, at the Harlequins grounds in Nairobi, Media houses and partners of KFC engaged in a 5 aside football faceoff to officially mark the launch of the KFC Football Beat in Kenya.
The Bloggers team of which we are a part of came fourth (yes fourth- such a horrible position, right? Hahaha, No worries however as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, had lots to eat and also had a chance to dance to good music.
This was all part of KFC’s mission to make sure media houses and partners had a feel of what the KFC Football beat is all about before the kids take on to the pitch.
Here is more now on the KFC Football Beat-
The KFC Football beat is a fun filled programme designed for kids to make new friends, be entertained and bring the brand community together. This action packed programme brings together kids into a store to play a game of X box Kinetic and culminates in the brand hosting a five-a-side soccer event. This year’s event shall be held at the Harlequin grounds on 13th of September 2014 for school going children, both boys and girls, aged between 10 and 14.
So hey parent, Uncle, Aunt, Cousin, Mentor- know of any kid aged between 10 and 14 who would like to be part of this event?
Here is how?
For the next three weeks, interested youngsters between the ages of 10-14 can visit KFC (of course, you can accompany them), purchase any item on the menu, fill in entry forms at participating KFC outlets in and around Nairobi and stand a chance to qualify to participate in the final event by testing out their skills on an X-Box Kinetic gaming console within the outlet.
There will be 16 teams in the final event, and participating teams will be supplied with professional UMBRO football kits (BTW Umbro kits Everton FC- Those kits are cool, aren’t they?), similar to those worn by professional soccer teams. (Your kid can basically live his dream, who doesn’t want to anyway?)
16 teams of 6 players will be assigned to 16 coaches consisting of community members.
The kids who will take part in the tournament shall be top 96 X-Box Kinetic participants (NOTE- Points are awarded at the stores as the kids play). Top ranking entrants will be notified via SMS and the final participant rosters will be published via KFC Football beat mobi site in the week leading to the Football Beat event.
There will be many fantastic prizes to be won on the day; medals for the winning teams, including spot prizes such as branded shirts, caps and water bottles for both participants and spectators.
In addition there will be plenty of fun to be had by all and, music and entertainment will be provided.
Meanwhile KFC has already commenced player recruitment at schools within Nairobi and will use the local coaches as positive role models for the youngsters within their communities. Interested parents & kids can also get more information on kfcfootballbeat.mobi/Kenya
